Fundraising Week raises over BND9,228

JERUDONG International School (JIS) recently raised over BND9,228 at its annual Fundraising Week, which will be donated for children with special needs in Brunei Darussalam, in consultation with the Ministry of Education Special Education Unit by giving specialist equipment to help them to access learning.

“Fundraising Week provides a great opportunity for our children to actively give something back to the wider Brunei community,” Head of JIS Junior School Paul Bannister said.

Several fundraising activities were held throughout the week including ‘Dollar for a Job’ – where students kept their own booklets to keep track of jobs they’ve done to help around their house, ‘Guess the Number of Sweets in a Jar’, ‘Coin Drop’, ‘Bake Sale’, ‘Launch a Teddy’, ‘Design a New Hairstyle’ and ‘Mad Scientist Dress Up Day’.

One of the most popular activities in Fundraising Week was the ‘Coin Drop’. Students collected as many coins as possible and then rolled the coins down a designated pipe from the first floor of one of the Junior School buildings to the ground level into a trough of water.

The Year 6 students from Junior School Council managed this year’s Bake Sale, selling baked goods to Junior School students during their morning break.
