Students enjoy ‘Body Attack’ class

ONE-hundred-and-twenty-eight Year 8 students from Jerudong International School (JIS) enjoyed a ‘Body Attack’ class by Fitness Zone at the school’s gymnasiums recently as part of the ‘Healthy Living’ topic covered in their Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) Programme.

As students have been learning to appreciate healthy nutrition and daily exercise, ‘Body Attack’ was deemed a suitable activity for all students.

“It’s great to be able to teach the children how to exercise and have fun at the same time,” said Head of Middle Years at JIS Richard Bourbon.

In Senior School, the PSHE Programme covers three key aspects of health – physical, emotional and intellectual health. In the Middle Years (Year 7 to Year 9), these strands are labelled Friendships, Healthy Living and Emotional Resilience.

Middle Years Healthy Living PSHE Coordinator Sue Mead said, “Not only were all students able to participate and have fun while exercising, but in this one session, we incorporated all three strands of PSHE we promote here at JIS.”

PSHE at JIS aims to equip each student with knowledge, self-understanding and social, emotional and intellectual skills necessary to live a healthy, safe and well-balanced life to achieve their full potential.

The PSHE curriculum at JIS takes a positive, preventative approach, aimed at empowering students with the self-awareness and emotional resilience required to confront the challenges of life.
