Summer Camp students learn about Brunei during tour of Tutong!

THIRTY-three students from China, Japan, Korea and Jerudong International School (JIS) recently toured the Tutong District through a visit package under the Tutong District Tourism Facilitation and Promotion Body.

The foreign students were in the country to attend the JIS Summer Camp, and the Tutong District tour was an opportunity for them to learn more about Brunei Darussalam’s cultural traditions and heritage.

Led by Abdul Aziz bin Haji Hamdan from the Tutong District Tourism Facilitation and Promotion Body, the first stop of the tour was the Sungai Basong Recreational Park, where the students learnt about the history and customs of the five ethnic groups in the district through replicas of traditional wooden houses and village settlements.

The students also visited the One Village, One Product (1K1P) Gallery at the Tutong District Office featuring local products by village communities.

The tour ended with a visit to the Tasbee Meliponiculture Farm at Kampong Sungai Kelugos, where owner Haji Mistaby bin Haji Metamit briefed the students on the importance of bees to the eco-system, before allowing them to try harvesting the honey themselves from the Kelulut (honey) bee hive.
