The extensive facilities at JIS establish it as one of leading international schools in the world. Classroom Facilities

The light, spacious classrooms are dynamic learning areas providing students with comfortable, modern desks and seating arrangements. All classes are equipped with a range of materials and ICT support suitable to the subject and level of study. Interactive white boards, desktop computers, screens and projectors ensure that learning is an exciting, interactive process. Ready access to information and resources make learning a diverse and stimulating experience.

Music Facilities

The Music facilities are truly outstanding and include a purpose built facility designed to support a flourishing and expanding curricular and extra-curricular programme. There are a total of 20 music specialist teaching rooms which include; Ensemble Rooms, Rock Band and Instrumental teaching studios, as well as an Orchestra and Choir Rehearsal Room.

There is an impressive collection of specialist musical instruments as well as iMAC suites which provide a range of specialist software including Logic Pro 9, Sibelius 7, Kontakt and other educational music software is available. The professional Recording Studio comprises a Live Performance facility (with isolation rooms for drums and vocals) and a control room with a Mac Pro computer (24 in/outs) running Pro-Tools 9HD, Logic Pro 9, Cubase 6 with various plug-ins and VSTi. There is a Fazioli Grand piano in the live room and microphones include Neumann U87Ai (1), Neumann KM184 (2) as well as a range of other microphones and Genelec 1032a monitors.

Art and Design Facilities

Art and Design at JIS is well resourced in all areas. State-of-the-art industrial equipment, to cope with mass production and a clean ICT room to support study, ensure that Food Technology is delivered from Year 2 - 13 is an exciting and professional manner. The Multimedia Clean Room for delivery of textiles, electronics and graphics are equipped in all areas including modern manufacturing CAD/CAM machines for embroidery.

There are five Multimedia Workshops to cover materials such as wood, metal, plastics, composites and smart materials, electronics and graphics to a high level with a wide range of fabrication machinery and equipment available for student use through from Year 2-13. Computer Aided Design/ Computer Aided Manufacture (CAD/ CAM) equipment includes; laser cutters, CNC routers, CNC milling machines, 3d printers/rapid prototype machines, vinyl cutters. There are also 'break out' areas for collaborative design work and study and are fully equipped with PC's and wireless technology.

The specialist Art classrooms are large, light rooms which are stocked with materials and resources for painting and drawing, sculpture, printmaking and quality art products shipped from Australia. All rooms have a projector and a number of computers to allow students to integrate ICT into their work. We are also very proud of our specialist silk screen printing room equipped with a professional printmaking table, and a range of silk-screens and inks. Furthermore, there is a dark room with facilities for photographic exposure of silk screens for print making.

Our photography room is equipped with lights and backdrops and we have a set of compact cameras and some SLRs, tripods, reflectors etc. There is access to computer suites for digital imaging work and software such as Photoshop as well as A3 colour printing. Two kilns for firing ceramic work and a professional art gallery space which is set to present students with first hand opportunities to experience artwork as well as showcasing the outcomes of Art and Design students.

Science Facilities

The superb Science facilities at Jerudong International School include 26 laboratories, 10 of which are newly built to world class standards. Chemistry laboratories contain five fume cupboards to meet the needs of even the most demanding IB and A Level practical work. In each Physics laboratory IB and A Level students have access to a computer and a state-of-the-art PASCO data-logger to enhance their experimental work. Biology students have at their disposal a range of high quality microscopes, models and resources to aid their learning. The three Middle Years laboratories are specifically designed for the needs of that age group, allowing group work to take place easily. The science teachers are well supported by a team of experienced technicians.

All laboratories are generously equipped with quality fixtures and apparatus which allow students to engage in meaningful practical activities. Much use is made of data-logging technology which is regularly used by students to collect experimental data using a range of sensors. The extensive ICT facilities support student learning; teachers have interactive displays to bring complex ideas to life and students have access to a wealth of resources on the school's network and beyond.

Health and Safety is paramount. The guidelines of UK organisations such as CLEAPPS and the ASE are adhered to and the labs are equipped with all necessary safety features.


The JIS Library and Information Centre is a valuable educational asset and the epicentre of the school. Membership is available to all students, staff, parents and guardians and it is the library's aim to promote a reading culture in a user friendly and vibrant learning environment.

Members have access to a wide collection of materials including; fiction, non-fiction, playaways, audiobooks, journals and publications. We also have growing access to online data bases for research. Professional librarians are able to assist with study and offer information literacy classes which support the curriculum and encourage students to become both information literate and critical users of information. A love of literature is promoted through enrichment activities such as our annual book week and visiting author events have featured notable children's writers including Nick Arnold, Sam Kean, Randa Abdel-Fattah, Anne Fine, Morris Gleitzman, Craig Bradley, Alan Gibbons, Liz Millions and Sonia Leong. In addition to the junior and senior collections the library includes teaching space, quiet student areas, study carrels, Online Public Access Catalogues (OPAC), comfortable seating, computers, internet, photocopying, and printing facilities.

Learning Resource Centre

A new Learning Resource Centre opened in August 2012 and is a highly stimulating environment for self-study and teacher led classes. Comprising a university standard lecture theatre, this dynamic resource centre is a dual level, technologically advanced E-learning base with wireless access throughout. Tablets for student independent study are accessible as well as banks of laptops available for class booking. Specialist technical support is provided as well as guidance on links to electronic data bases.

Testing Centre

Jerudong International School is an accredited Test Centre for UK external examination boards including; Cambridge, Edexcel and AQA. We are able to facilitate BMAT, TSA, ELAT, ADT, WJEC, CLEA and HAT admissions tests for Oxbridge entry. We also administer the US College Board SAT Reasoning / Subject Test(s). (Test Centre Number 75410).
